Alexandra Carron has been working as a mosaicist-ceramicist for around fifteen years; she creates earthenware, sandstone, glass paste or marble wall decorations and flooring. She crafts her own earthenware potteries covering a broad range of 500 color shades. They are hand-thrown and manually glazed in her workshop located in Pigalle, in the heart of Paris. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alexandra\u2019s artworks are multifarious, from masterly wall decorations to light fixtures made up of porcelain rings luminaires. In addition, she conceived an ambitious project: a forest composed of mosaic pillars, named \u201cLes Herbes Folles\u201d (Wild Grasses). <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

She worked with prestigious brands like Chanel, Paul Smith or Pavillon Ledoyen. Alexandra also collaborated with public institutions, as the Necker hospital for which she created a mural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Majuno, she devised two ceramic trays gilded with gold leaf on a wooden base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why did you choose to work with ceramic clay?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I used to work in the entertainment industry and went on a trip to Bali where I discovered artistic craftsmanship. Once I was back in France, I began to learn by myself how to craft mosaics. And I began to craft my own earthenware potteries after staying in South Africa where such potteries were impossible to find.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How did you approach Majuno\u2019s project?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My first inspiration \u2013the one with prevailing cream tones\u2013 came to me after I fell in love with the work of a Colombian weaver. Concerning the willow green and turquoise one, I wanted to recreate stone\u2019s mineral aspect as if my earthenware potteries were stones polished by the sea.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
