Nathalie Pilato All\u00e8gre manually crafts her earthenware and sandstone ceramics. She has a passion for table setting; whether she is crafting a single piece or a small series, she always uses lead free enamels, making it food safe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her Montpellier-based workshop, she creates tableware and decorative objects such as credence tables or wall panels. Nathalie paints visual decorations and puts earth, enamels and the exploration of various shapes in the heart of her creative process. She likes to stray from the conventional path by creating versatile objects. Could we not use a plate or a tray as a wall decoration?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Majuno, she devised a tray of discontinuous lines inspired by her \u201cMorse\u201d series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why did you choose to craft ceramics?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

J\u2019ai d\u00e9but\u00e9 quand j\u2019\u00e9tais aux Beaux-Arts avant de la laisser un peu de c\u00f4t\u00e9. Apr\u00e8s des \u00e9tudes en architecture puis en haute joaillerie, j\u2019ai fait carri\u00e8re dans la communication culturelle et institutionnelle. Puis comme beaucoup de gens autour de la cinquantaine, j\u2019ai eu envie de changement. Ce parcours professionnel riche m\u2019a pouss\u00e9e \u00e0 oser proposer autre chose. Le travail des formes et des finitions est le fruit d\u2019une vie enti\u00e8re d\u2019observation des belles choses dans l\u2019art, l\u2019artisanat comme dans la nature.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How did you approach Majuno\u2019s project?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tray is in line with my \u201cMorse\u201d series which I have been working on for several months. The pieces have a discontinuous line pattern; each line being meticulously created. It is a time-consuming step, but I really enjoy precision work. Most of the time, I experiment on relatively small surfaces at first, before working on larger ones. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
