Hot work in the mass flow<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lise Gonthier is a glassmaker. Her work is based on impressive technical mastery and a continuous search of new techniques. Indeed, she adapts the traditional technique of glass fusing by remelting self-crafted glass. In her Beaucaire-located workshop in the Gard region, Lise is relentlessly pursuing a quest: highlighting the glass matter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main goal of her mural artworks, sculptures or totems is to create a relationship between poetry and the sensuality of glass. Cobalt blue, topaz, black and white, she plays with colors, shapes and volumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Majuno, she devised a tray made of hot-worked glass cubes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why did you choose to work with glass?<\/strong>
Apr\u00e8s des \u00e9tudes aux Beaux-Arts de Besan\u00e7on o\u00f9 j\u2019\u00e9tudiais la peinture, j\u2019ai fait un stage de c\u00e9ramique chez un ma\u00eetre verrier \u00e0 Lyon. \u00c7a a \u00e9t\u00e9 une r\u00e9v\u00e9lation ! J\u2019ai alors d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de suivre la formation du CERFAV, le Centre Europ\u00e9en des Arts Verriers. J\u2019ai ensuite eu la chance d\u2019effectuer des stages chez Baccarat et chez Ajeto, une c\u00e9l\u00e8bre cristallerie en R\u00e9publique tch\u00e8que. Les techniques classiques acquises, j\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 en imaginer de nouvelles en les d\u00e9tournant.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How did you approach Majuno\u2019s project?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this project, I again and again used light effects to plays with white, black and grey shades. I created small glass cubes as interior and exterior decorations, crafted one by one at 1140 degrees Celsius. Then, I sawed and trimmed each side, before remelting them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Restraints, brittleness, crafting time:<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • The maximum height is 150x70 centimeters, but the piece is particularly heavy in this instance. The average size is 70 x 80 centimeters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The piece made for Majuno is 2,5 centimeters large. You cannot put anything hot on it because it is not made of Securit glass. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • However, it is scratch-resistant. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • A piece requires at least one month of work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
