Head of Atelier Paille since 2015, Anne Lecorguill\u00e9 crafts straw marquetry furniture (mirrors, folding screens\u2026) and jewelry. Formerly working as an art historian, she has a talent for revealing the color of such a brittle material while making it charming and sturdier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Cap Fr\u00e9hel where she settled in 2020, Anne Lecorguill\u00e9 designs modern custom-made pieces or small series for individuals or art galleries, with great respect for traditional craftsmanship and French savoir-faire.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Why did you choose to craft straw marquetry ?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hold an Art History degree, with a specialization in Roman murals in the Middle East. For several years, I worked on archeological sites in Jordany. In 2013, I decided to change my carrier path, I thus enrolled on straw marquetry courses for adults run by \u00c9cole Boulle. I was still living in rue May, Paris, near Lison de Caunes\u2019 workshop and fell in love with her creative genius. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In general, my art history knowledge still influences my work. Islamic patterns can be found in my marquetry. The same goes for the patience I acquired working on excavation sites which helps me daily with my work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

How did you approach Majuno\u2019s project?<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

J\u2019ai eu la volont\u00e9 de montrer deux motifs tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rents : l\u2019Art D\u00e9co parce que la paille s\u2019y pr\u00eate particuli\u00e8rement et les fleurs qui sont des motifs que j\u2019affectionne, simplement parce que j\u2019aime les fleurs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n


Restraints, brittleness, crafting time:<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • There is no size limitation. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Marquetry is fixed on medium panels. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • The pieces must be kept away from direct sunlight as it stretches the straw (risk of delamination). <\/li>\n\n\n\n
